Full Metal Alchemist Stray Rondo (known in Japan as Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Meisō no Rondo) is a 2D role-playing game released for the Game Boy Advance by Bandai in 2004. While it was never officially localized for Western markets, this cartridge is a full English translation!

Core Gameplay Mechanics

• Card-Based Alchemy System: Unlike standard turn-based RPGs, battles revolve around using cards to perform alchemy.
• Card Attributes: Each card has three numbers: Mass (left), Value (right), and a Roman Numeral indicating how many times it has been combined.
• Combinations: You can combine cards up to four times to increase their power, though combined mass and value cannot exceed 7.
• Move Collection: There are 200 unique alchemical moves for Edward across four categories: Metal, Nature, Stone, and Darkness.
• Character Differences:
• Edward: Can use Attack, Alchemy, Items, and a "Handbook" to record and use moves.
• Alphonse: Uses Attack, Special Moves, and Items. He has high defense and stamina but lower speed than Ed.
• Cat Hunt: A recurring side quest where Al collects kittens to increase the strength of certain special attacks. 

Story and Setting

• Timeline: The game serves as the first entry in a two-part GBA series, followed by Sonata of Memories.
• Narrative: It follows the Elric brothers' journey to find the Philosopher's Stone after their failed attempt at human transmutation. The story includes original game characters like Corniche Royce (a medical alchemist) and Aston Martins (the "Thunder Alchemist"), alongside familiar faces like Roy Mustang and Alex Louis Armstrong.
